One for the Cabinet- Street Gladiator by Comfy Chair Games

What is that I see? Is that a smiley face in my Spinespur column on the LXG Painting board? Why, yes it is! I have just finished my last, lovely Spinespur model. And here he is, the Street Gladiator.

WIP Wednesday!

It's another Wednesday, and it's time for a few more WIP shots! Unfortunately we don't have much to show off this week, but there are a couple neat things going on we thought we should put up.

It's Contest Time! Choose your Favorite Campaign!

Hello everyone!  The writers of LXG all got together last night, and because we can't come up with a convincing idea, we're turning it into a contest.  Help us choose what to play, and maybe win some models while you're doing it!

What did I paint this week? June 15th

Okay, I know, I missed last week.  Last minute revisions on some writing work literally ate up my weekend, and I have the dishes and crumbs to prove it.  However, here's a nice look at some work last week, and some new pieces done this week!

Spinespur Kickstarter Models Review Pt2: The Dark Faith

TokenGamerChic once called me “The Queen of things that go bump in the night.” So, when our little group fell in love with Spinespur, it was no surprise to anyone that I ended up fielding the Dark Faith. There are corpses being animated, blown up, and infected with plagues that affect anything that gets near them. My kind of people. And, in classic Spinespur fashion, the models for this faction show their necromantic creepiness in beautiful, and sometimes offbeat, ways.

What did I paint this week? April 25th

My name is Tom, and I have a painting backlog.

Hey, that makes me like every other gamer, right?

So, in order to try to deal with that (and show off some goofy little pieces every know and then that might not be part of anything bigger like an army or something), I'm going to start a new, (hopefully) weekly article series titled "What did I paint this week?" where I will try to show you a couple finished pieces from one week to the next.

Spine City? Sinspur? Who cares, it's a Spinespur Batrep!

Spinespur Book 1: ThresholdHaving just received a bunch of terrain from Mr. Walter Anstiss in the post (gods I love the smell of mdf in the morning!) Ali and I decided that before we started painting them, to set up a game with all unpainted sepia looking terrain, and completely painted models.  It'd give the game a "Sin City" kind of look.  So, artistic license in hand, we settled down for a 200 point game of Spinespur, the Dark Faith versus the Institution...

Spinespur Kickstarter Models Review Pt I

So, as anyone trying to read our blog will notice, hobby time has been on short supply recently.  I had really wanted to get these up and done before Cold War, but just ran out of time sadly.  So, about six weeks behind schedule, I wanted to show you guys some sexy lumps of metal I've been working on, delivered hot from the Spinespur kickstarter and now up for grabs on the Comfy Chair Website.

Product Review: Firebucket Games Bases

So, a bit ago I got some product from the lovely blokes at FireBucket.  You'll remember I showed you the unfinished pieces here.  Well, it's time to show where some of those bases have gone, in a montage spectacle of cross-genre photos. Just a warning, this article is full of beautiful models and stunning bases!

Have yourself a Scary Little Christmas

It's holiday time here at LXG, and Santa Claus has delivered all our favorite kickstarters.  As our treat to you, we wanted to share a little bit of the holidays, LXG and Spinespur style.  Be warned, what you see, you can't unsee....

Kickwatcher: Gah! Zombies!

Right now there are a slew of games that have zombies, or some facsimile there of, in them.  So it may not seem like a huge surprise that there is a Kickstarter out there that is aiming to give us some unique zombie models.  3DForge miniatures has a kickstarter brewing that I think everyone should look at.

Street Chum: First game, first look.

So, as B97 mentioned last week, Spinespur holds a very fond place in LXG's heart.  It was our first Kickstarter, first time I'd really gotten to personally sit down with a game designed/owner/creator in a long time (it's frustrating working with a bunch of Nottingham folks while living in Philadelphia sometimes!), tied for first "small box" game that our group all had models for painted and ready to play, and really the only game we're playing in its genre (because, well, anytime we look at anything else skirmish and horror based, we always go "hey, we could just play Spinespur instead.") With Street Chum being released to backers, Mordin and I settled in to play a down and dirty game of Spinespur: Street Chum Edition, with the hopes of shaping it into a regular campaign feature.

Pleased to meat you: A Spinespur Slaughterhouse Agenda review

Filthy, dirty, slovenly beasts. Oh, and then there's the pigs. The Slaughterhouse Agenda represents the "rural society" of horror tropes- the areas where civilization's shining light never quite made it, and if it id, all it accomplished was casting a deeper shadow.

The Sunday News

So we have a new weekly feature that we are unveiling this week.  The Sunday News.  This weekly feature is a compilation of the newsworthy events of the week for our "stable" of games and companies we support, plus anything else we think you might be interested in.  So of this we will have already covered in full articles, but a lot of it might be stuff that just wasn't big enough to write an entire article about.  So with out further ado, here is the ...

It's a Madhouse: A Spinespur Institution Agenda Review

The Institution is, to me, one of the most fundamental aspects of Spinespur, and a quintessential collection of horror genre tropes. Let's take a good hard look at the strengths and weaknesses of this Agenda.

Mother's Day Massacre!

You can't Stop the Signal! 100th Article, and Firefly on the Table!

("Find a blog. Find some writers.  Keep playing.")
Okay, so I know this is almost impossible to believe, but our little corner of the interwebs is already at 100 articles!  I know, crazy, right?  So that's where all my spare time has gone....  Anyway, we wanted to do a couple things here to celebrate.

Tablescapes just keep "rolling" along, passes 200K

Secret Weapon's modular table Kickstarter, Tablescapes, has passed the 200k mark.  What does that mean?  Well it means that the latest themed board has been unlocked and it's the first one that is truly setting neutral.  But there is more, so read on for the details.
