One wild ride...

So back at TempleCon, Merek (after his win in the Dropzone Commander Tournament), Second Class Elitist, and I had the opportunity to play a game called SkidMarks that will be launching on Kickstarter in the near future.  After a full day playing games, and meeting new faces, it was a chance to just have some fun with a new game.  Below I'm going to try to give you an insight into why I think the game was a lot of fun, and worth your investment.

The Sunday News! February 15th

This weekend Hobby time was a little rough to come by due to weather, but the Undead Menace managed to make it to LXG Headquarters, so this Sunday News was her and the Second Class Elitist.  All the Hobby News that fit to print!

Kickstarter broke the Internet!

Now that I have your attention... So, Kickstarter is breaking the internet, and destroying the wargaming industry by filling it with a whole bunch of undeliverable products and sketchy business practices. Or... is it?  Let's look at the situation objectively.

Fantasy gaming is dead? ...Not with Norsgard!

So my friends say I have a problem.  I love Kickstarters!  I search the site at least 3 times a week looking for new minis, games, terrain, you name it.  So when I stumbled on Norsgard I surprised to see a new fantasy game coming to market.  There had been a few others with varying degrees of success, and I wondered what could make this one stand out.  I was in for a bit of a ride...

Tabletop Props Kickstarter is Funded!

Tabletop Props did it! After two unsuccessful tries, their Covered Wagons Kickstarter is finally funded, meaning livestock-powered transportation devices are heading to tabletops near you soon! So, what's left in this Kickstarter?  A whole lot of upcoming stretch goals for other campsite and western themed pieces.

Tabletop Props comes back to Kickstarter with a new, old project!

You gotta love someone who does it for the love of the hobby.  Someone who has an idea for a project and refuses to let it fail.  Tabletop Props comes full circle with their fourth Kickstarter being an attempted relaunch of their first two.  They have momentum, can they win the fight this time?

Assault on Fortress Moon- PulpyRetro Scifi Boardgame with Gusto!

"Bad Wiring"So, we get a lot of requests to review Kickstarters. Honestly, probably enough to make a whole separate channel for them.  Most of them do not have miniatures, and therefore we never show them (because, that's kinda our thing... sometimes I wonder if people read the Blog before submitting). So, I was about halfway through one such email when I got to the sentence "It's a strategic tabletop wargame where retro scifi miniatures fight for control of the Moon!" And just like that, Assault on Fortress Moon has my credit card jumping out of my wallet.

Music to Paint Models By and Wage War With- the Lorenguard Kickstarter

Okay, so, I know we have a "shiney new soldierdoll" requirement for supporting Kickstarters, but this is one that I know you guys can get behind.  Why is that?  You've been rewinding to listen to them on our videos.

Cyntopia- The future is now Hits Kickstarter

Cyntopia - the future is now's video poster
So here's an interesting new boardgame fresh to Kickstarter.  It has a bold cyberpunk look and feel, modular replayable board, and most importantly (for us at least) some nice looking figures.

Commission Figurine Berlin Strasse, Part I

So, a while back we pushed a lot of people to back a kickstarter from Commission Figurines, and a few months back we all got delivery. In between other work, I've managed to get the kit finished "as it comes," so time to show that off before I start fiddling with it.

Kickwatcher: Not your usual suspect

Professional Prints Priced Provocatively's video posterOkay, so I know we have a really strict rule about "no Kickstarters that don't have soldierdolls in them" here at LXG.  I know because I made the rule, so there.  And now I'm gonna break it, because sometimes doing the right thing means breaking the rules- or at least that's what I tell my Parole Officer.  So, get ready for Professional Prints Price Provocatively, by our own Ali Alcatraz.

Counterblast Teaser #1: The 1950’s Color Palette

Well, the goodies from the Counterblast Kickstarter are not due out until at least August, but we’re chomping at the bit over here, so we decided to get ahead by painting up a few Bombshell Miniatures we have.

But what colors to use? Why, a 1950’s palette, of course! The 1950’s are widely regarded as a Golden Age of Sci-fi, so what better color palette to use for our alien cats, jet bikes and space squids?

Kicktracker: Counterblast Adventure Battle Game!

So, anyone who's seen my movie collection knows I have a thing for old, bad, b-rated movies.  Classic retro monster flicks and scifi (much to my girlfriend's dismay).  If you're a fan of Buck Rogers, Flash Gordon, Rocketeers, and the like, then this is a great game for you.  But time is running out, you only have two days left to save the earth... erm, I mean, make a pledge.

The most original urban table you'll ever see- on Kickstarter!

16 tiles stacked up: a 4'x4' table is 4" tall.
Here's one I've been waiting on for a long time now.  Almost a year.  I even scrapped my own urban table build because I knew it was coming.  Why?  Because this is going to be the coolest, most original looking urban warfare table you've ever seen. Original, durable, incredibly modular, and reasonably priced.  If you play anything modern or futuristic, you really need to check out the T5 Table from FireBucket Games.

Kickwatcher: Gah! Zombies!

Right now there are a slew of games that have zombies, or some facsimile there of, in them.  So it may not seem like a huge surprise that there is a Kickstarter out there that is aiming to give us some unique zombie models.  3DForge miniatures has a kickstarter brewing that I think everyone should look at.

Product Review: Ramshackle Games Rhebok

apc tank Fast paced post apocalyptic action     So, it's finally that time where my hard-spent money of months ago is coming back to me in the form of lovely little lumps of resin, metal, and plastic. Very soon I will be tearing into mounds of Warzone and Deadzone figures (what's with everyone and their "zones" anyway? ) as well as the remainder of the Spinespur models. TokenGamerChic is already hard at work painting our (read: her) Dwarven Forge Dwarvenite Tiles. For today, the Iron Brotherhood Rhebok gets it's day in the sun. Or, at least, the sun-equivalent painting lamp, since we all know gamers never leave our dungeons to venture into the daylight.
