Gribbly Day update!

Well, we're coming down the home stretch now. Gribbly day was a smashing success, with none of the big three painters coming in at less than 10 points for the day. Here you'll see a nice smattering of models from all over. You've got a Counterblast Illyrian Scout Ship, acouple SDZA models, some more Pulp City, and one Death Kiwi by Alex Huntley that's going to be a special guest in one of my Malifaux squads.

Oh, and just in case you thought that finishing up that adorable little monkey was all TGC did yesterday... no, he just wouldn't fit in the picture:

For those of you keeping score, in these pictures you see 22 more points by 2CE, 11 points by TGC, and 12 more points by myself, bringing our totals to:

Second Class Elitist- 34 points
Ali Alcatraz- 27 points
Token Gamer Chick- 21 points

Now we enter our last theme day. You thought the points got big during gribbly day? Wait 'til you see what happens when we take on... Terrain Day!

Superhero Dinosaur Zombie Apocalypse Day Report

All right! So, SDZA Day ran about 3 days, but that's fair since there are three things to paint in that title. And here they are!!!

Another smiley face!

Well, Mr. Quartermain was a little too busy to get up the official WIP Wednesday this week. If he had, you would have noticed my pile was a little smaller:

That's because I finished up a few guys (and one tough little girl).

And what does that net me? Another smiley face on the painting board! Woohoo!

...wait. That can't be right. That smiley face is in my Zombies and Survivors column! Oh, no! That won't do. The Zombie Master can't be out of zombies! This is a catastrophe! A crisis, even!

...but wait, what is this in my mailbox?

...Whew. That was close.

The LXG Painting Board- January 2015

All-righty, folks! It is a new year, with new models destined to be painted ! (okay, and some older ones, too). Since several of us here at LXG have made New Year hobby resolutions related to painting, we need to keep an eye on our painting numbers. So, here it is, the LXG Painting board as it stands at the end of January 2015!

The LXG Painting Board

Ok, most of you probably know by now that we have a "painting board" at LXG Headquarters. For those of you who haven't seen it, it is, quite simply, a dry erase board with a spreadsheet containing the members of our club, and the models we own for each game that need to be painted. The numbers are points which are allocated as follows, quoting Second Class Elitist (2CE) from his New Year's Eve Resolutions article: "Our points system is based on model base size: 25mm/30mm is 1, 40mm or cavalry is 2, 50mm is 4, and vehicles are 10. Terrain is based on similar numbers, but with a lot more leeway to trying to figure them out."
Since 2CE brought up New Year's Hobby Resolutions, and he and I both made painting related ones, I think it's high time we enforced some culpability on this painting board by letting you, our readers, periodically see our progress. To that end, I am showing you the Painting Board as it stood at midnight, December 31st, 2014. I will then introduce to you any changes we are making to the painting board for 2015, and try to post an update article periodically to let you know how things are progressing.

Keeping your Hobby alive: What to do when you hate painting, part 1

Hey guys and gals, today we start a new series about a topic that effects many of us, myself included.  First a little background, though.  I used to live about 20-30 minutes from the rest of LXG but a few years ago I had to move another hour or so away.  This has severely hampered my ability to game and hang with my gaming friends, to say the least.  To add to this problem the nearest gaming store isn't much closer and it's in the opposite direction, so I'm not playing as much as I would like.  There are only so many things in this hobby that can be done on our own, and I hate one of them.  Painting.  So I'm going to take some time and talk about the things I have been doing to gear myself up for painting, and show off some of my inspirations.

How I feel when I have to paint.
