It's Contest Time! Choose your Favorite Campaign!

Hello everyone!  The writers of LXG all got together last night, and because we can't come up with a convincing idea, we're turning it into a contest.  Help us choose what to play, and maybe win some models while you're doing it!

So, we've all agreed that starting in 2015 we want to run a Story Campaign of battle reports for the blog, potentially featuring all of us (plus a few guest surprises).  They will most definitely appear on our YouTube Channel, although we may do additional games here as well.  The format will be 8-12 games for the primary story focus, with the possibility of spinoff games and stories occurring as well.
EDIT:  I"ll keep an updated running tally here, for anyone keeping track or waiting to vote one way or the other.  Also, I've been told some people are having trouble posting comments.  I've tried to resolve the problem but if you still can't, then email me and I'll put up your vote. As of 8:00pm on Dec 31st:
           Warzone Resurrection:     88
           Counterblast:                    74
           Malifaux:                          5
           Spinespur:                         3
           Dropzone Commander:    3

The problem is... we couldn't all agree on what game system we wanted to do this in.  So, we're giving you all the opportunity to tell us what game you want to watch us play a storyline for.

Here's the options, with a little info just in case you want to see something you don't play or know a lot about:

28mm alternative universe pulp 50's scifi skirmish, in much the feel of pulp classics like Buck Rogers, Flash Gordon, and the Rocketeer. We would use the campaign rules pretty much as posted in the Counterblast rulebook.

10mm scifi where humanity lost the war to the aliens generations ago... so they stepped back, regrouped, and are taking back their worlds. Campaign would be a narrative-based series of battles.

32mm skirmish set in an alternate 19th Century where steampunkery and wicked magics pervade a city on the other side of a dimensional rift. We would use the rumored Campaign Rules expected next year for beta testing (which may mean a slight delay in the first game.)

28mm skirmish set in a city of the damned and forgotten, where no good deed goes unpunished.  Time period can best be described as "modern, mostly." We would be using a (highly) modified version of the Street Chum rules, and probably finishing up our homebrew edition of them in the process.

32mm squad based game set is a far flung future with a more or less dieselpunk feel of a futuristic WWI/WWII era.  Campaign rules for this are somewhat in flux at the moment, so will likely be a narrative campaign of games.

Alright folks, five choices! We apologize that there are no Zombie Apoc, Super Hero, or Fantasy options on the list, but unfortunately the games we wanted to use for those three aren't quite done cooking yet- hopefully next go around.

HOW TO ENTER:  All you need to do is drop a comment on this article with the game you would like to see us play, and optionally a short "why" about it as well.  The game we will play is going to be the game that gets the most votes by midnight New Year's Eve, Eastern Time.

HOW TO WIN:  On New Year's Day (or shortly thereafter if we're all too hung over to move), we will randomly pick a winner from all the replies made.  If the lucky winner is not also a Follower on the blog, they will win a $20 prepaid card of Paypal voucher.  If the really lucky winner is a Follower of this blog, they instead win a starter box/faction/kit/etc from either the game they voted for, or the game that won, if they wanted to try something new and play along with their club/FLGS.  Simple!!!

DISCLAIMER STUFF: One campaign vote per person.  One entry for prizes per person. Contributing Writers to the blog are not eligible to win, although they may vote for the game they want to play.  Guest Writers are eligible to win.  Manufacturers, sculptors, and producers of the above games, and their employees, are eligible to win, and may vote for their own game (or another). Non-Follower Winner gets choice of prepaid card or voucher.  Follower Winner gets choice of game system, and choice of faction/force box from those currently in production by the appropriate manufacturer. Should the winner choose Spinespur they instead receive $50 worth of Spinespur miniatures to build a force of their choice. Winners must be 18 and older.  Contest rules may be updated without notice.  No animals were harmed in the making of this contest, although B97 may have been shot in the face with a NERF gun.

Okay, so let the games to determine the games begin!!!  Who's gonna be first to suggest a game?

  1. Counterbkast. I think it offers the best choice for a narrative campaign. Especially if your allcreating your own characters and factions. It will make an awesome tale told.

    1. Thank you Simon! It's definitely one we're excited to play... and with the included campaign rules it's ready right out of the box!

  2. Malifaux. It's really easy to learn to play and complicated enough to make you think whether what you did last turn was the best thing. Plus the card drawing mechanic and cheating will appeal to the mathematical gamers who likes counting probability. Having great models and art also goes a long way.

  3. Drop zone commander - because its what ive got and would like to see how it handles a narrative campaign

  6. The best game for a campaing is warzone resurrection since this game rescues mutant chronicles from oblivion, being a great dieselpunk setting with lots of untold stories, i'd like to see the clash of the main factions for supremacy while the dark matter destroys everything with the dark legion, also able to make alliances and multiplayer scenarios, like bauhaus along mishima against the nmutants! Cheers!

  15. I'd love to see a Counterblast campaign playthrough. Great setting, beautiful models, and relatively new game, so you'd be breaking new ground with a series of videos. I've backed kickstarters related to three of these games (Counterblast, Spinespur and the "Through the Breach" Malifaux RPG) so I'd really be happy with any of the choices.

  87. Counterblast. A great game with the ability to accept other models, but also supplying an excellent range of in houde models. Tie that to one of the better campaign systems I've seen in many years of gaming, along with an interesting mix of faction capabilities, and the game comes up a solid winner.

  95. Counterblast. The pulp feel wil be great for narrative campaign. Love the others too though.

  96. Counterblast - I'd like to see a narrative campaign with this setting. It would feel kind of like Flash Gordon/Lost in Space/Mass Effect all mashed together - pulp aliens and tech, planetary exploration, galactic peril.

  97. Counterblast. But you guys should look into Infinity if that kind of game catches your interest.

  98. Counterblast. It looks like a blast to play (sorry abut the pun) and I'd like to see it run through its paces.

  99. Counterblast. Just started painting up my minis, it will be good to see a few games in action.

  100. Counterblast! Altho this is a tough one, they could all tell some great stories. Gotta go with Counterblast tho as the setting is right up my alley.

  101. I would love to see Warzone. Its an awesome franchise that has been around a LONG time with numerous versions and a full blown RPG as well with tons of background info and fluff!

  102. I'll go with Counterblast... everything else is something I've already seen or themes already touched. Pulp sci-fi is a new theme, at least from a game produced at this quality. Counterblast has the chances of becoming something 'new', rather than the other games that have a few years under their belts

  103. I vote Counterblast. I like the theme and the miniatures.

  104. I'd like to see Warzone Resurrection please.

  105. I vote for Warzone. I have been in love with Mutant Chronicles universe since 1995. Warzone was my first wargame ever and now the latest edition actually brought me back to wargaming. With support of the soon-to-be-released Mutant Chronicles RPG, I think the universe has massive potential to grow having a lot of substance to back it up.

  106. Warzone Resurrection, because it's an amazing reboot of a nineties wargame with the best settings I've ever seen (mutant chronicles). Dark legion needs your soul, give 'em bullets in a*s!!!

  107. Counterblast - don't see enough of it!!!

  108. Warzone Resurrection

Why? Because the background would allow you to fit a campaign in just about any where. Because of the background you could also use almost sny terrain. The rules are free to download. You could use the "Heros of the Solar System" supplement to create custom characters. Last but not least a starter box is relatively cheap and the model quality and detail are excellent.
